St.Thomas Engagement Center

My experience at the engagement center has been a big part of my involvement at St. Thpmas. Reaching out to alumni or parents helps me feel more connected to the university by learning about the experience of others. One of my roles at the Engagement Center is being a Caller Mentor where I display leadership skills by setting example, participating, and assisting the managers to train in new callers. This has also helped me learn the basics of sales and marketing skills, feel confident building trust with strangers, and build a lot of resilience.
My proudest accomplishments are I have raised over 9,000 dollars for the university and secured 105 pledges from alumni, parents, and friends of the university. My credit card rate excels the overall university fulfillment and I excel at calling Freshman Parent non-donors and Business school constituents.
Although the satisfaction of securing a pledge and raising money makes working at the engagement center fun, what really makes it worth it is the culture of the work environment. My coworkers are helpful, encouraging, willing to give advice about phone calls, diverse, and very fun (even during a pandemic- lots of zoom gatherings and acitivites).

Volunteering with JP4 Foundation

During the spring of 2020, with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic I volunteered remotely with the JP4 Foundation located in Lakeville, MN. I assisted them with researching potential companies such as HealthPartners, that matched their values to send a contract proposal to be partners with along with the benefits of becoming partners. I also assisted them with arranging and creating contract proposals to send out to these companies that are potential partners. I met with the director of the foundation once a week to discuss my progress and what needed to be done. I completed 40 hours of work during the spring semester.

While volunteering, I learned a lot about the importance of time management and making sure I stayed on top of things and completed my weekly hours and tasks to the best of my ability. I also learned a lot about communicating effectively with the executive director about tasks I completed and scheduling meetings to discuss my progress.
